Orthodox Church to Host Memorial Service on September 11

OMAHA - The St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church will offer a Memorial Service of Protection and Healing on the five-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 11 and will consist of traditional Orthodox hymns in memory of those who perished in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania, prayers for civil authorities, for the victims and their families, and for peace in the world.

The St. John's community offers this service, which is open to the public, as a means of remembrance, healing, and an expression of solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy. The service will take place at the church at 602 Park Avenue and there will be refreshments following in the fellowship hall.
